English Glossary- Unit 3

Pharsal verbs

  • Join in: participate.
  • Catch up: reach someone in front of you.
  • Miss out: lose an oportunity to do something enjoyable.
  • Pick up: learn a new skill by chance.
  • Take up: strat a new hobby.
  • Try out: test something to see how good it is.
  • Fill up: be empty.
  • Queue up: wait in a queue to do something.
  • Set up: build something.
  • Turn up: appear suddenly in a place.
  • Wash up: clean the dishes after eating.

-Afford: have enough money to pay something.
-Bargain: someting that was really expensive and you could buy it really cheap.
-Be worth: its good to buy it because you are gonna use it a lot.
-Borrow: take something from someone.
-Brand: types of shops or clothes (Ralph lauren, lacoste, chanel..).
-Discount: pay less for something.
-Lend: give something to someone.
-Sale: when the shops have cheaper prizes.
-Shop online: when you buy somethng throughout the internet.
-Waste: spend your money in something that you aren't going to use.
-Archery: the art, practice, or skill of an archer.
-Wakeboarding: the sport of riding over water on a short surfboard and performing stunts while holding a rope towed by a speedboat
-Department store: a large retail store carrying a wide variety of merchandise and organized into various departments for sales and administrative purposes.
-Shop owner: the owner of a shop.
-Souvenir: a usually small and relatively inexpensive article given, kept, or purchased as a reminder of a place visited, an occasion, etc.; memento.
